International Courier Delivery to 220+ Countries

International Deliveries is the largest service we run. It is a door-to-door courier and freight solution covering export from the UAE and import into it — parcels, documents, spare parts, machinery components and general cargo — to more than 220 countries and territories. The department handles over 100 shipments and documents a day.

What makes it work is that we are carrier-neutral. Spares Desk holds authorised business accounts with DHL, UPS and FedEx, and books directly through them alongside commercial airlines, consolidators and ocean carriers. We hold accounts with all of them rather than acting as agent for any one, which means every shipment is priced across the options and booked on whichever genuinely suits that cargo, that deadline and that destination — rather than on whichever network we happen to be signed up to.

Those accounts carry contracted rates and we move volume daily, so what we book at is usually better than a one-off shipper is quoted at the counter. But the saving is rarely the main reason clients use us. The bigger one is that a courier moves a box between two addresses; we handle the export packing, the customs documentation at both ends, the consolidation, and the cargo the express networks decline outright.

Choosing the Right Delivery Mode

Most shipping decisions come down to a trade-off between speed and cost, and the right answer changes with weight, dimensions and how firm the deadline is. This is the comparison we run for every enquiry.

Mode Typical transit Best for Notes
Express courier 1–4 days Documents, samples, small spares, urgent parcels Booked through DHL, UPS or FedEx. Fastest for anything under roughly 70 kg.
Air freight 2–7 days Heavier or bulkier cargo, machinery parts, oversized pieces Cheaper per kilo than express above about 100 kg, and accepts cargo express will not.
Sea freight (LCL) 15–40 days Non-urgent volume, spares stock, project materials Lowest cost per cubic metre. Shared container, so no minimum full load.
Sea freight (FCL) 15–40 days Full container loads, heavy machinery, bulk orders Best rate per unit once volume justifies a dedicated container.
Road freight 1–5 days GCC destinations — Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar Direct trucking, no airport or port handling in between.
On-board courier Same day Line-down, aircraft-on-ground, vessel-detained emergencies A team member flies with the cargo as accompanied baggage.

Transit times are indicative for major destinations and exclude customs holds at destination. We confirm a routing and a realistic delivery window against the actual cargo before you commit.

What Our International Courier Service Includes

Carrier chosen per shipment

We are not tied to one network. Each consignment is priced across our DHL, UPS and FedEx accounts and commercial freight lines, then booked on whichever is genuinely best for that cargo, deadline and destination.

Door-to-door, not depot-to-depot

Collection from the shipper's premises and delivery to the recipient's address, including the last mile that express networks often quote separately.

Customs handled at both ends

Export paperwork, HS classification, duty calculation and destination clearance. Most delays are documentation problems, not transport problems.

Export packing and repacking

Cargo repacked to carrier and destination standards before it ships, so it is not rejected at acceptance or damaged in transit.

Consolidation

Multiple pieces from multiple suppliers combined into one shipment, one set of documents and one invoice.

Cargo the express networks refuse

Oversized, overweight, dangerous goods and battery consignments that standard courier channels decline, routed as air or sea freight instead.

Full insurance

All-risk cover on declared value, arranged as part of the booking rather than as an afterthought.

One accountable contact

A named person who knows the shipment, not a ticket number and a call centre queue.

Export Documentation You Will Need

Customs delays are almost always paperwork problems. For a standard commercial export from the UAE we prepare or collect:

  • Commercial invoice showing an accurate description, HS code, value and country of origin
  • Packing list with piece count, gross and net weights, and dimensions per piece
  • Certificate of origin, where the destination requires one for duty purposes
  • Airway bill or bill of lading, raised at booking
  • Dangerous goods declaration and correct UN packing, where applicable
  • Import licence or permit for controlled goods at destination

Undervaluing a shipment to reduce duty is the single most common cause of a consignment being held, inspected and fined. We declare accurately and calculate the duty in advance so there is no surprise at the other end.

How an International Shipment Runs

  • Quote. You send origin, destination, weight, dimensions, contents and deadline. We come back with routing options and prices, usually within two business hours.
  • Collection. Same-day within the UAE if the request lands before cut-off; scheduled pickup from an overseas supplier for inbound.
  • Packing and documentation. Repacked to carrier and destination standards, paperwork raised in parallel so nothing waits on it.
  • Transit. Booked on the agreed carrier, with tracking passed to you and monitored on our side.
  • Clearance and delivery. Destination customs handled, duties settled, delivery to the final address and proof of delivery returned.

International Courier FAQs

How is this different from booking DHL or FedEx directly?

Booking direct ties you to one network's rate card, coverage and restrictions for every shipment. We price each consignment across several carriers and freight options and book the one that actually suits it. We also handle export packing, customs documentation, consolidation and cargo the express networks will not carry — work that sits outside a courier's scope. For a single small parcel to a major city, going direct may well be simpler. For anything heavy, oversized, regulated, consolidated or time-critical, a managed booking usually lands cheaper and arrives more reliably.

Which carriers do you use?

We hold authorised business accounts with the major integrators — DHL, UPS and FedEx — and also book through commercial airlines, consolidators and ocean carriers. We are an account holder with each rather than an agent for any one of them, which is precisely why we can recommend one over another without bias.

How many countries do you deliver to?

220+ countries and territories, covering both export from the UAE and import into it. Remote and restricted destinations are quoted individually, since they often need a specific carrier or a local agent.

What can you not ship?

Prohibited goods vary by carrier and destination. Dangerous goods, lithium batteries, aerosols, liquids and perishables are all shippable but need correct classification, packing and paperwork, and sometimes a freight booking rather than express. Tell us what it is before you pack it and we will confirm the route.

How fast can an urgent shipment leave?

Same-day collection within the UAE if the request reaches us before cut-off, with export documentation prepared in parallel. For genuine emergencies our on-board courier service puts a team member on the next available flight with the cargo in hand.

What do you need to quote?

Origin and destination addresses, piece count, actual weight and dimensions, a description and value of the goods, and your required delivery date. Dimensions matter as much as weight — carriers charge on whichever is greater.

Do you handle import into the UAE as well as export?

Yes. Inbound is roughly half of what the department handles: collection from an overseas supplier, export clearance in their country, transport, and UAE customs clearance and delivery.
