Keeping Your Supplier Out of the Paperwork

Neutralised delivery exists so your buyer never learns who you buy from. Original labels, tapes and packing slips are removed, the cargo is repacked under supervision, and the supplier's invoice is replaced with yours on every document that travels with the shipment. The airway bill, packing list and any certificate name you rather than the manufacturer. This matters in any sector where the supply chain is the commercial advantage — trading, distribution, parts resale — not only in marine.

What Gets Removed from a Neutralised Shipment

Neutralisation is a documentation exercise as much as a physical one. A shipment can be perfectly repacked and still identify your supplier through a single line on an airway bill. We work through both layers.

Where the supplier shows What we do
Outer carton branding, tape, labelsRepacked into unbranded cartons under supervision
Packing slip inside the boxRemoved and replaced with your own
Commercial invoiceReissued on your letterhead at your selling price
Airway bill shipper fieldRaised showing you, or us, as shipper
Certificate of originReissued where the destination requires one
Tracking visible to the consigneeIssued under our reference, not the supplier's

Who Uses Neutralised Delivery

Neutralised delivery is not a maritime service, and it is not only for resellers. It applies wherever the supply chain itself is the commercial advantage:

  • Traders and distributors shipping direct from a manufacturer to an end customer, who must not be able to bypass them on the next order.
  • Spare parts resellers whose margin depends on the buyer not sourcing the identical part from the OEM directly.
  • Manufacturers who subcontract production and would rather the subcontractor stayed out of the customer relationship.
  • Agents and intermediaries handling a transaction where neither side should learn the other's identity.

What We Need to Neutralise Your Shipment

Neutralisation fails on details, so the brief matters more than with a standard shipment:

  • Whether the consignee may know your identity, or only that of a neutral forwarder
  • The declared value to appear on the reissued invoice, which is usually your price and not the supplier's
  • Whether the country of origin must still be stated, since for customs purposes it usually must
  • Any certification that has to travel with the goods and carries the manufacturer's name
  • Whether returns should route back to you or onward to the supplier

Country of origin is the one field that generally cannot be removed. Customs authorities require it, and misstating it is a compliance offence rather than a commercial choice. Everything else on the paperwork can be neutralised.

Neutralised Delivery FAQs

Will my customer be able to identify my supplier?

Not from the shipment. Outer packaging, labels, tape and packing slips are replaced, the invoice and airway bill are reissued in your name, and tracking is issued under our reference. The one field that normally remains is country of origin, which customs requires and which it would be a compliance offence to misstate.

Is this the same as drop shipping?

No. Drop shipping usually means the supplier ships direct and simply omits their branding, which leaves their details on the transport documents. Neutralisation involves physically taking the cargo in, repacking it under supervision and reissuing the full document set, so nothing that reaches the consignee originates with the supplier.

Can you repack without opening sealed items?

Yes. In most cases only the outer packaging is changed, so factory-sealed inner packaging stays intact and any warranty seal is undisturbed. Where an inner box carries supplier branding we will tell you before opening anything and agree the approach first.

Does neutralisation delay the shipment?

It adds a handling step, normally the same working day for standard consignments. We prepare the replacement documentation while the physical repacking is under way rather than in sequence, so on most lanes the shipment leaves on the flight or sailing it would otherwise have taken.

Can you neutralise for any destination?

In most cases. A small number of destinations require documentation naming the actual manufacturer for regulated goods such as pharmaceuticals, food or certain electrical equipment. We check the destination requirements before accepting the job rather than discovering the conflict at customs.

Is this only for marine spare parts?

No. It applies to any sector where the supply chain is the commercial advantage — trading, distribution, industrial parts, electronics, consumer goods. Marine is simply where we do a lot of it.
